BLEACH Mirrors High Characters
Bleach follows a large cast of warriors whose loyalties, abilities, and personal histories influence the balance of the spiritual world. These character cards introduce the main heroes, captains, allies, and antagonists.
Ichigo Kurosaki
A human who gains Soul Reaper powers from Rukia Kuchiki. He repeatedly enters spiritual conflicts to protect his family, friends, and both the Human World and Soul Society.
Rukia Kuchiki
The Soul Reaper who transfers her powers to Ichigo at the beginning of the story. She later becomes a powerful officer and eventually the captain of Squad 13.
Renji Abarai
The lieutenant of Squad 6 and Rukia's childhood friend. Renji begins as Ichigo's opponent but becomes one of his most dependable allies.
Byakuya Kuchiki
The captain of Squad 6 and head of the noble Kuchiki Clan. His strict devotion to Soul Society law gradually changes through his encounters with Ichigo and Rukia.
Toshiro Hitsugaya
A young prodigy who serves as captain of Squad 10. He commands Hyorinmaru, one of the most powerful ice-type Zanpakuto.
Kenpachi Zaraki
The battle-loving captain of Squad 11 and holder of the Kenpachi title. He relies on immense spiritual pressure, physical strength, and an instinctive desire to fight powerful opponents.
Sosuke Aizen
The former captain of Squad 5 who secretly manipulates events throughout Soul Society. He seeks to transcend the limits separating Soul Reapers, Hollows, and the Soul King.
Ulquiorra Cifer
The Fourth Espada in Aizen's army and one of Ichigo's most dangerous opponents. His calm, emotionless outlook is challenged through his interactions with Orihime.
Gin Ichimaru
The former captain of Squad 3 who follows Aizen while hiding his true intentions. His constant smile and deceptive behavior make his loyalties difficult to understand.
Yoruichi Shihoin
The former captain of Squad 2 and former commander of the Onmitsukido. She is a master of hand-to-hand combat, stealth, and high-speed movement.
Uryu Ishida
A skilled Quincy archer and one of Ichigo's closest allies. His Quincy heritage places him at the center of the final conflict with the Wandenreich.
Orihime Inoue
Ichigo's classmate and a wielder of the Shun Shun Rikka. Her abilities can reject harmful events, allowing her to heal injuries, create barriers, and protect her companions.
BLEACH Mirrors High Zanpakuto
A Zanpakuto reflects the soul of its wielder and possesses its own name and spirit. By communicating with that spirit, a Soul Reaper can unlock Shikai and eventually the far more powerful Bankai.
Zangetsu
Shikai
A permanently released oversized blade that channels Ichigo's spiritual power into attacks such as Getsuga Tensho.
Bankai
Its Bankai is Tensa Zangetsu, which compresses Ichigo's power into a smaller blade and greatly increases his speed and combat performance.
Sode no Shirayuki
Shikai
Uses a series of dances to freeze targets, create paths of ice, and lower temperatures around the blade.
Bankai
Hakka no Togame drastically lowers Rukia's body temperature and freezes everything within its effective area.
Zabimaru
Shikai
Transforms into a segmented blade that can extend like a whip and strike enemies from a distance.
Bankai
So-oh Zabimaru creates massive skeletal and baboon-like components that deliver powerful physical and spiritual attacks.
Senbonzakura
Shikai
Separates its blade into countless tiny blades that resemble drifting cherry blossom petals.
Bankai
Senbonzakura Kageyoshi summons enormous blades that divide into millions of controllable fragments and can form several specialized attack modes.
Kyoka Suigetsu
Shikai
Places anyone who witnesses its release under Complete Hypnosis, allowing Aizen to manipulate all five senses.
Bankai
Unknown
Hyorinmaru
Shikai
Creates and controls large quantities of ice and water, often taking the form of an ice dragon.
Bankai
Daiguren Hyorinmaru forms ice wings, claws, and a tail. Its mature state can freeze both physical matter and the functions of affected objects.
Katen Kyokotsu
Shikai
Turns children's games into real combat rules that affect everyone participating within its range.
Bankai
Katen Kyokotsu: Karamatsu Shinju traps nearby opponents in a four-act tragedy involving shared wounds, illness, drowning, and a final severing attack.
Ryujin Jakka
Shikai
Produces overwhelming flames capable of burning large areas and reducing targets to ash.
Bankai
Zanka no Tachi concentrates its flames into the blade and grants four directional abilities involving extreme heat, destructive contact, defense, and the corpses of previous victims.
Minazuki
Shikai
Transforms into a large flying creature that transports injured allies and heals them inside its body.
Bankai
Minazuki releases a blood-like liquid around Unohana and her sword during close-range combat. Its exact mechanics are not fully explained.
Nozarashi
Shikai
Transforms into a huge axe-like blade with enough cutting power to destroy enormous objects and heavily armored opponents.
Bankai
Turns Kenpachi into a red-skinned berserker with drastically increased strength and cutting power, although he initially struggles to control it.
Sogyo no Kotowari
Shikai
Splits into two blades connected by a cord and talismans, allowing Ukitake to absorb and redirect energy attacks.
Bankai

BLEACH Mirrors High Arcs
The Bleach storyline expands from supernatural incidents in Karakura Town into wars involving Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and the Quincy empire. This timeline presents the major canonical arcs in narrative order.
Substitute Soul Reaper Arc
Ichigo Kurosaki receives Soul Reaper powers from Rukia Kuchiki and begins protecting Karakura Town from Hollows. He meets spiritually aware allies including Orihime Inoue, Yasutora Sado, and Quincy archer Uryu Ishida.
Soul Society Arc
Rukia is arrested and sentenced to execution for transferring her powers to a human. Ichigo and his friends invade Soul Society, battle members of the Gotei 13, and uncover Sosuke Aizen's hidden conspiracy.
Arrancar: The Arrival Arc
Aizen creates an army of Arrancar using the Hogyoku and sends them to attack the Human World. Ichigo struggles to control his inner Hollow while training with the Visored.
Hueco Mundo Arc
Orihime is taken to Aizen's fortress in Hueco Mundo, prompting Ichigo, Uryu, and Chad to launch a rescue mission. They fight numerous Arrancar and Espada while advancing through Las Noches.
Turn Back the Pendulum Arc
A flashback reveals the events that occurred more than a century earlier in Soul Society. It explains how Aizen's Hollowfication experiments transformed several captains and lieutenants into the Visored.
Fake Karakura Town Arc
The Gotei 13 confronts Aizen, Gin, Tosen, and the remaining Espada in a replica of Karakura Town. Ichigo ultimately undergoes intense training to gain the power needed for his decisive battle with Aizen.
Lost Agent Arc
After losing his Soul Reaper abilities, Ichigo meets Kugo Ginjo and the Fullbringer organization Xcution. Their promise to restore his powers develops into a conflict involving stolen Fullbring abilities and Ginjo's past.
Thousand-Year Blood War Arc
Yhwach and the Wandenreich invade Soul Society, steal Bankai, and declare war on the Soul Reapers. Ichigo discovers the truth about his heritage as the conflict expands to the Soul King Palace and threatens the structure of all worlds.
BLEACH Mirrors High Factions
Bleach's conflicts are driven by organizations with competing ideas about justice, survival, revenge, and the balance of souls. Some defend the established spiritual order, while others seek to destroy or replace it.
Gotei 13
The thirteen military divisions responsible for protecting Soul Society and maintaining the balance between worlds. Each squad is commanded by a captain and usually specializes in a particular style of duty or combat.
Espada
The ten highest-ranking Arrancar in Aizen's army, numbered according to their spiritual power. They rule over lesser Arrancar and fight to support Aizen's plan to overthrow the existing order.
Visored
Former Soul Reaper captains and lieutenants who gained Hollow powers through Aizen's experiments. They initially live in exile but later help Ichigo control his inner Hollow and oppose Aizen.
Quincy
Spiritually aware humans who destroy Hollows using weapons formed from gathered spiritual particles. Their method of completely erasing Hollows threatens the balance of souls and historically brings them into conflict with the Soul Reapers.
Wandenreich
A hidden Quincy empire that survives in the shadows of Soul Society and prepares for a thousand-year revenge campaign. Its Sternritter invade Soul Society, steal Bankai, and attempt to reshape the worlds under Yhwach's rule.
Xcution
An organization of Fullbringers who claim they want to remove their powers and become ordinary humans. Ginjo instead uses the group to manipulate Ichigo and steal the Fullbring-enhanced Soul Reaper power he develops.
Fullbringers
Humans capable of manipulating the souls contained within physical objects. Their powers usually develop after their mothers survive Hollow attacks, but Fullbringers do not belong to one unified organization or share a single goal.
BLEACH Mirrors High Abilities
Bleach features several interconnected power systems based on spiritual energy, race, training, and personal weapons. These abilities range from formal Soul Reaper spells to instinctive Hollow attacks and specialized Quincy defenses.
Kido is the Soul Reapers' system of spiritual spells, activated through incantations and numbered techniques. Hado spells focus on destruction, while Bakudo spells restrain, defend, track, or seal targets; masters such as Tessai, Hachigen, and Aizen can use advanced Kido with reduced or omitted incantations.
Cero is a concentrated blast of spiritual energy commonly fired by Menos Hollows and Arrancar. Its power, speed, color, and firing point vary by user, with stronger variants including Gran Rey Cero and Cero Oscuras.
Hierro hardens an Arrancar's skin by concentrating spiritual energy throughout the body. Its durability differs between individuals, with fighters such as Nnoitra Gilga possessing exceptionally strong Hierro.
Hollowfication grants Hollow characteristics and power to a Soul Reaper, often producing a mask and a major increase in speed, strength, and spiritual pressure. Ichigo and the Visored use controlled forms of this power, although losing control can trigger a more complete Hollow transformation.
Bankai is the second and final release of a Soul Reaper's Zanpakuto, normally requiring years of training to achieve and master. Each Bankai reflects its user's spirit and can dramatically transform the weapon, surroundings, or wielder's combat abilities.
Getsuga Tensho is Ichigo Kurosaki's signature technique, releasing condensed spiritual energy from Zangetsu as a powerful crescent-shaped attack. Ichigo can use different forms of it through his Shikai, Bankai, Hollow-enhanced state, and later dual-blade powers.
Shunpo is a Soul Reaper high-speed movement technique that allows the user to cross distances faster than ordinary vision can follow. Yoruichi Shihoin, Soi Fon, and Byakuya Kuchiki are among its most accomplished practitioners.
Sonido is the Arrancar equivalent of high-speed movement and often produces a distinctive sound when used. Skilled Arrancar can use it to evade attacks, create afterimages, and reposition before an opponent can react.
Hirenkyaku lets Quincy travel rapidly by riding currents of spiritual particles beneath their feet. Blut Vene directs spiritual energy through the user's blood vessels to greatly increase defense, while its offensive counterpart, Blut Arterie, strengthens attacks.
Fullbring allows spiritually aware humans to manipulate the soul contained within physical matter. Each Fullbringer develops a personal ability connected to an emotionally significant object, such as Ginjo's Substitute Soul Reaper badge or Tsukishima's bookmark.
BLEACH Mirrors High Battles
Bleach battles combine swordsmanship, evolving transformations, tactical abilities, and personal conflicts. These major fights introduce defining techniques, resolve long-running rivalries, and determine the outcome of entire story arcs.
Ichigo vs Byakuya
Ichigo confronts Byakuya at Sokyoku Hill and reveals his newly achieved Bankai, Tensa Zangetsu. After Ichigo's inner Hollow briefly takes control, the two fighters exchange final attacks and Byakuya concedes defeat.
Ichigo vs Ulquiorra
Ulquiorra overwhelms Ichigo with his second Resurreccion and leaves him near death in Las Noches. Ichigo then transforms into a powerful uncontrolled Hollow form, defeats Ulquiorra, and regains awareness shortly before Ulquiorra disintegrates.
Ichigo vs Aizen
After training in the Dangai, Ichigo returns with power far beyond Aizen's evolved forms. He uses the Final Getsuga Tensho and Mugetsu to weaken Aizen, allowing Kisuke Urahara's hidden Kido seal to imprison him.
Ichigo vs Ginjo
Ichigo regains his Soul Reaper powers with help from the Gotei 13 and battles Kugo Ginjo in their Bankai forms. Ichigo defeats Ginjo, but later recognizes the loneliness and resentment that drove the former Substitute Soul Reaper.
Kenpachi vs Nnoitra
Nnoitra's durable Hierro and six-armed Resurreccion initially withstand Kenpachi's attacks. Kenpachi eventually uses two-handed kendo, delivers a devastating strike, and defeats the Fifth Espada.
Yamamoto vs Wonderweiss
Wonderweiss is revealed to have been modified specifically to seal the flames of Ryujin Jakka. Yamamoto destroys him with his bare hands, survives the resulting explosion, and uses Hado 96 against Aizen, although Aizen escapes the attack.
Shunsui vs Starrk
Shunsui battles Coyote Starrk using Katen Kyokotsu's dangerous children's games while several other fighters enter the conflict. Shunsui ultimately exploits the rules of his Shikai and lands the decisive strike against the First Espada.
Byakuya vs Tsukishima
Tsukishima uses Book of the End to insert himself into Byakuya's past and learn every established technique. Byakuya rejects that emotional manipulation and kills him with a close-range attack formed from scattered Senbonzakura petals.
Rukia vs Aaroniero
Aaroniero uses Kaien Shiba's appearance and memories to destabilize Rukia during their battle in Las Noches. Rukia overcomes her guilt and defeats him by extending Sode no Shirayuki through his head with her third dance.
Ichigo vs Yhwach
Yhwach repeatedly uses The Almighty to alter possible futures and neutralize Ichigo's attacks. With assistance from Aizen's illusions and Uryu's Still Silver arrow, Ichigo lands the final strike that defeats the Quincy emperor.
